Have you seen the movie Almost Famous—you know Kate Hudson’s movie about the kid Opi who followed Stillwater around the country on tour? I credit that kid Opi to my career. After seeing that movie in middle school, I became determined to be like Opi when I grew up — that is to say, be a journalist for a music magazine so I could get tickets and follow my favorite bands around the country. (Spoiler alert: that story turned out a little different than what my teenage self had planned in my head.)
Through a few college internships in creative roles with photographers and event planners, I became certain that advertising was the direction I wanted my career to take. I found myself fresh out of college in a more practical role as a social media content assistant at a brand new tech startup during the dawn of the social media era (I’m talking way before TikTok.)
That role quickly progressed into a decade's worth of roles in marketing, customer experience, project management, and operations with startups, advertising agencies, and larger-scale SaaS environments. In these roles, I've had the opportunity to lead teams, lead marketing campaigns and website launches, manage high-visibility projects, develop content, and even dive into business analysis. I've been privileged to work with dream clients in the automotive, hospitality, and travel & tourism spaces.
Most recently, I have found a home with Team Velocity Marketing as an Enterprise Account Director where I'm privileged to serve the Murgado Automotive Group. In this role, I'm responsible for leading an internal team and directing the marketing strategy and execution for Murgado's growing portfolio of more than 25 dealerships around the United States.
As I look back on the last decade, I think about how blessed I am to have spent my career working alongside some truly brilliant people at companies that are innovating and transforming the world. As I look toward the future, I am reminded that the most critical thing to me will always be pursuing opportunities that align with my mission. I will always crave working around bright minds who inspire me to dream boldly and with companies working to transform the world into a better place.
